The Pros And Cons Of Dental Implants

After having to have two teeth removed last year at Cedar Park dentist, I have been looking into the possibility of getting dental implants. While there are certainly plenty of benefits to implants, there are also some drawbacks.

One positive thing about implants is that once they are in your mouth, they are practically impossible to distinguish from your actual teeth.

You don't have to worry about taking them out at night like you would with dentures. In terms of care, you simply brush and floss them like your normal teeth.

They also don't cause any damage to the surrounding teeth. This is in contrast to a bridge where the teeth on either side of the missing tooth or teeth have to be filed down so that they can have crowns put on them.

The main drawback to implants is their cost. Each tooth can cost thousands of dollars to replace. This can quickly add up if you have more than one tooth that is missing.

They also require fairly extensive dental work since they are attached to the underlying bone through surgical techniques. This is far more invasive than something like getting fitted for dentures.

If you have any missing teeth that need to be replace, it is important to carefully consider the pros and cons of implants to decide whether they are the right choice for you.
